Bidirectional Power Control Strategy for Super Capacitor Energy Storage System Based on MMC DC-DC Converter

In order to equip more high-energy pulse loads and improve power supply reliability, the vessel integrated system (IPS) shows an increasing demand for high-voltage large-capacity energy storage systems. Based on this background, paper focuses a super capacitor based cascaded DC-DC converter composed of modular multilevel (MMC) dual active bridges (DAB). The is called MMC-DAB short. This analyzes topology modulation strategy in detail. Taking into account shortcomings traditional bidirectional control strategy, proposes where DAB module each branch independently controls voltage sub-module capacitor. mathematical models proposed are established. stability two strategies analyzed compared. Finally, MW-level engineering prototype designed manufactured, effectiveness was verified through experiments.
